Our SCI team is at the core of our success and our interns are an integral part of building the technology and systems powering our machine learning models and financial products. Interns join us for a period of 3 months on average and work on a variety of timely projects and problems that have a direct impact on the development of our business. Learn about our recent cohort of international interns from ESADE Business School in Barcelona, Spain.

Where is your hometown?

Taipei, Taiwan.

How did you find out about SCI?

Professor Marc Torrens from ESADE matched us with SCI team to work on a capstone project to create an awarded government contract model.

What is your role in the internship and what have you been learning thus far?

My teammates and I worked to create a machine learning model to predict the likeliness of a parent company and a sub award company to win a government contract. Through this internship, I learned how to interpret governmental financial data and how to do data cleaning, feature engineering and model tuning to find the best parameters and variables and help us make precise predictions.

What has been your favorite part of the internship?

My favorite part of the internship is that I get to work with an amazing team in Spartan. We held weekly meetings and share our progress in building the model. I learned a lot from Nick, Ulrich, and Michelle and also from my teammates.

Who is one person that inspires you to be the best version of yourself?

Bernhard is the person in the team that inspired me to work hard and also pursue new knowledge. He helps the team stay organized and also keeps us on track.

What are your long-term (10+ years) and short-term (< 5 years) career goals?

In the short term, I want to work as a data analyst in a technology or Fin-tech company and my short term goal is to successfully lead 1-2 projects as a team leader or a coordinator. I hope I can become an invaluable asset to a company and I can also do some side projects or form a start-up of my own. In the long-term, I hope I attain deep knowledge in the industry I am working in and that I am able to help rookies get on track, while at the same time possessing multiple skills that can help me excel in my career.
